The goal
Hi, I’m Maya, a protolinguist exploring the intersection of language, culture, and well, everything. This site is a home for my writing and opinions on language, media, and communication. I’m also an artist and graphic designer with a strong background in animation and visual development. In fact, all the visuals you see on this site are made by yours truly. Through Lingua Machina, I aim spark conversations about language and how we use it. This is a space where I try to make sense of the patterns in how we communicate and why they matter.
I’m Maya Iyer, founder, organizer, media manager, and everything else. I wrote these pieces to share my love for linguistics and show how studying it can help anybody understand the world a little better.
