What is linguistics?
Linguistics is the scientific study of language, how it works, how it’s structured, how it changes over time, and how people use it. It looks at everything from the sounds and grammar of languages to how meaning is made, how language is processed in the brain, and how it reflects culture and society. At its core, linguistics is about understanding how humans communicate, and why that matters.
